The fights are intense, but do have middle of the road CGI. Ondrej Nekvasil's production design gives the Nordic Coven a snowy cave look, but it's quite sparse, while the lavish Eastern Coven is gorgeously ornate. I wonder if Len Wiseman would ever return to direct a final Underworld film to give Selene a brighter end?įoerster gives us a frosty atmosphere in the Nordic Vampire Coven with a cool Gothic Eastern Vampire Coven for an enthralling frozen setting. I honestly appreciate Foerster trying to do the vampire covens again, even if we get a frigid and unsatisfying conclusion to the Underworld movies. I missed seeing sword duels in film for sure and the bullets fly everywhere to the point of absurdity at times.

Clementine Nicholson is dreamy and intriguing as the mysterious Nordic vampire Lena with graceful charm and strange powers.įoerster's action sequences are killer like Lara Pulver's swashbuckling duels with Charles Dance and Theo James or Kate Beckinsale's fierce battle with Tobias Menzies. James Faulkner's rigidly traditional vampire lord of the Eastern Coven named Cassius is ideally strict. Peter Andersson's vampire lord of the Nordic Coven named Vidar feels nice. Charles Dance gets a neat farewell with tenderness towards Selene and David and his awesome sword fight with Lara Pulver's Semira. Her sword fights with Charles Dance and Theo James are so cool to watch her having fun in a vicious frenzy of swordplay. Her sharp words are as pleasant as her bloody fangs and sexual aura. Lara Pulver steals every scene she's in with her effervescent pale beauty, piercing blue eyes, and delightful performance as the ambitious vampire antagonist Semira. His scenes with Daisy Head's pretty redhead vampire Alexia are interesting as are his violent action sequences. Tobias Menzies is brutal as the evil lycan leader Marius. Theo James is likable and intense as David with his compelling character arc this time. Beckinsale saves and elevates these movies into charming films with her endearing, serious acting. She's still drop dead gorgeous as the breathtaking Selene with an emotional realness despite the lack of story this time. Kate Beckinsale concludes her steadfast run as the vampire Death Dealer Selene is a bang. It's not a classic film, but a thoroughly entertaining action movie with some nice vampire mythology that feels closer to Len Wiseman's Underworld than Underworld: Awakening did. I initially loathed this movie, but after revisiting the first four movies, I loved them all and appreciate Blood Wars more for its brutal gore and bloody encounters.

Il finale lascia totalmente insoddisfatti nessuna conclusione dopo 5 film, pessima scelta.Ī bloody conclusion to the Underworld series with an icy end.ĭirector Anna Foerster provides some Gothic appeal to her first film with her vampire horror action-thriller Underworld: Blood Wars (2016).
